Description

All the hearts
start to wither now
nothing's left..
Just the question.. How?

Sascha inspired me to use the title. Thank you! :aww:
The picture is quite old, taken in January 2013.

I bid you an alternative to the interpretation of how Mother Nature is telling us that all but the leaves survive. Consider that we (as flesh beings relate to the body (or flesh) on the leaves. So, when the flesh is gone we take that as decay or death.
I suggest that in this image, Mother Earth is telling us that when we are done here all that is left is the love we give while alive. In this image the heart symbol remains even after the flesh is gone, as if telling us that the part of us that may have a chance to go on, is that part of our energy that in life we chose to express as love. I feel that this image is an invitation to love for (like the Beatles said a long time ago in one of their songs) "All We Need Is Love:
The way the leaves progressively fall out of focus further enhances the validity of this suggestion. The parts of the leaves that still remain get progressively ghostly. The last one where the physical shape is virtually gone, amazingly enough, is the one that shows its "heart" best, so if we miss the message in front of our eyes, the image has a second level to reaffirm that when the perceived reality of the body fades, the heart is still present! So (for me) this image is one of the most powerful symbols of spiritual survival. We, and our faith in love, may wither but true love never will!
In fact, once we recognize the background "out of focus" leave, so transparent that we can clearly see its "heart", it becomes the first thing that hits the eye, because it is in the light, while the withering sharp one in front, is in the dark as it should (the leaf not the love).
The branches that hold the leaves are also very significant. While in the sharp part, in the foreground, the branches clearly hold the withering lives, in the background, the one that shows its heart best, appears to be floating in the light at its own accord without the need of the branches. This is like an adjective in a sentence, where there is a validated affirmation of a subject or statement!

I love the way the perspective chosen places the background in such way that the soft parts of the leaves’ alignment is in the light, while the sharp foreground remains in the darker part.
Metaphorically this image is saying to me: "The eternal essence of life is love." Amazingly enough, the word LIFE is the word LOVE where the "O" (an infinity symbol, by the way) changes into an "I" (The first representation of ego or self). All of these thoughts were triggered by this image in my heart.
I hope that the temporary disappointments we all have had about our understanding of love in relationships with other leaves, do not stop us from finding the universal love that gives us our very lives, and that may very well be the secret door to eternal existence!
