5 (who?)

Worries or normal thing?

Journal Entry: Sun Oct 21, 2012, 12:17 PM

hey, I need an advice.

Here on deviantART, on Facebook (page) and on 500px I have got plenty of fans,
and they support me..
Which I am very thankful for, but there is a thing that annoys me and makes me sad..

It's the thing that nobody in my real life (except the ones I met from the internet or
my boyfriend) likes my pictures.
I am even the nerd in my school, the photography nerd who does only take "acceptable"
photos, because I have got expensive equipment.
They do not realize it's the photographer taking the pictures..

You know.. I am an outsider in school, and I am not unhappy about this circumstance,
but I wish someone appreciated my photography..

I really hope that I will be more appreciated when I start studying in university next year.

What are your thoughts about it?

Although you already have tons of comments like this, I thought I should put mine in:
I love photography and drawing as well, but at school the only people who really pay any attention to it are those who I actually show it to and share my passion. Even those who know I draw never really ask about it, and when I used to do photography I used to get laughed at for sitting real close to "random plants/objects" and trying to get them to focus, but once I found people who were interested in photos it wasn't so bad.
So I guess what I'm saying is that yeah it's normal, but the trick is finding people who are passionate about what you're passionate about. If they don't care about photography then they have no way of appreciating what you do. So I think it will get better at university, because you'll be around others who share your love for photography, and actually know how to appreciate it.
Hope this helps.

Aber ich glaube es ist auch einfach schwerer jemanden in "echt" zu loben als übers Internet, ich habe manchmal das Gefühl, dass Leute garnicht wissen wie sie ein nettes Kompliment formulieren können ^^;

Meine Mama sagt immer, die Leute an meiner Schule sind neidisch und ignorieren das dann einfach.

Hm das kann natürlich auch sein, aber dann sieh es einfach als Kompliment, als indirektes :D
I know exactly what you mean. My photography really isn't the best but some shots I'm proud of and no one else seems to enjoy them. I take pictures because I love to and yet people still make fun of me and tell me I try too hard or it's crappy. But in the end it's not for other people, it's for yourself. But it does suck, you're not alone. <3
